The final countdown for implementation of new hiked jantri rates has begun, with government sources indicating an announcement is imminent. The industry has made representations urging swift announcements as property deals remain on hold. The revenue department has submitted the file with increased rates to Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, sources confirmed. New rates may be announced within days after a decade-long freeze on revisions. As Mirror reported earlier, jantri rates will increase annually by 10% to 20%. However, proposed rates will be reduced, particularly in urban areas. At some locations where seven-time higher rates were initially proposed, these will be slashed to three to four times the current levels.
